FRESNO, Calif.- The Fresno State softball team is set to host "Heroes Night" Friday at 6 p.m., for the series opener against Nevada at Margie Wright Diamond. In honor of Fresno firefighter, Captain Pete Dern, the `Dogs welcome all police, firefighters, paramedics, military and veterans free of charge to Friday's game as a thank you for their services.
Firefighter boots will be on site collecting donations for Captain Dern, who was critically injured while venting a roof at a two-story house fire. All proceeds will go to the Community Regional Medical Center where Dern and other local firefighters are currently being treated.
A fire truck will be parked in the outfield berm and will activate a live siren as the Bulldogs take the field against the Wolf Pack while Fresno State alumni and Battalion Chief, Rich Cabral, will be in uniform throwing out the ceremonial first pitch alongside his Fire Truck 11 crew.
Don't miss any of Friday's exciting action! Join us at Margie Wright Diamond as we honor our local heroes starting at 6 p.m.
The doggone Best weekend of the year continues on Saturday with the annual "Bark in the Park" festivities held in the outfield berm. Upon free admission for all dogs, the Fresno State softball team has partnered with the local Valley Animal Shelter to place an adoptable petmobile in the right field corner of the outfield.
