FRESNO, Calif. -- Fresno State head women's basketball coach Jaime White announced Friday that forward Kendra Martin from Chipola College has signed a National Letter of Intent with the Bulldogs.
The 5-11 forward, who has two years of eligibility remaining, averaged 8.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.4 steals per game during the 2014-15 season for Chipola. She shot 48.7 percent (111-of-228) from the floor, with just over half of her made field goals coming from behind the 3-point line (62-of-154).
"We are very excited to have Kendra join the Bulldogs next season as she brings invaluable championship experience," White said of Martin. "Her ability to shoot the three and athleticism to get by defenders will help the team immediately. Above all else, she is a tireless worker and a great student, two character traits that we value as a staff and a program."
Martin, a top 75 junior college recruit according to Dan Olson's Girls Basketball Report, was a second-team All-Panhandle Conference selection this past season at Chipola where she helped the Lady Indians to a 34-1 record and the program's first NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship. Chipola defeated top-seeded Hutchinson, 54-46, in the championship game. The Denver, Colo., native scored 10 points and added five rebounds as Chipola handed the Blue Dragons their first loss of the season.
