FRESNO, Calif. - GoBulldogs.com caught up with freshman guard Zaria Branch for our web series, "Bulldogs 5-On-5". Throughout the month of September, the series will feature the women's basketball team's seven newcomers.
Q: How important was it for you to play college basketball in your home state?
A: It was very important for me to play college basketball close to home because it meant that my family would be able to make my games more often and support me more often in person. But at the same time, I’m still getting the going away from home experience.
Q: What part of your game have you been working on most during the offseason?
A: I've been working on things like getting stronger in the weight room , and getting quicker with conditioning, shooting, defending, and attacking to help prepare me for the speed and aggressiveness of the college game.
Q: How have the upperclassmen been helping you adjust so far?
A: The have really been helping me feel at home and comfortable. They have been doing the best job of helping the fab seven catch on to the way that Fresno State women’s basketball runs. I really feel like they are a great source to go to if I am ever confused about anything.
Q: What is the best thing that you have gotten from basketball?
A: I love and am grateful for all that basketball has to offer me; education, traveling and long lasting friendships.
Q: Who do you try to model your game after?
A: Some people that I enjoy watching and studying are people like Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, Paul George, Chris Paul, Steph Curry, and Candice Parker.
"Be Bold" - The official home of the Fresno State women's basketball team is ESPN2 790 AM.
