FRESNO, Calif. - Former Fresno State standout Alex Sheedy has signed with AS Koon Ippokratis of the Greek Women's Basketball League. The native of Moe, Australia, was the first foreign player to sign with the team this offseason.
"We are very excited for Alex," Fresno State head women's basketball coach Jaime White said. "With her size and ability to score in multiple ways, she will have great success in the professional leagues in Greece. The Bulldogs are proud of her and wish her luck."
Ippokratis finished the 2014-15 season in sixth place and was eliminated in the quarterfinals. With the ability to play at the three or four positions, the team will look to Sheedy to provide the scoring punch that she showed while at Fresno State.
Sheedy finished her career ranked eighth on the Fresno State all-time scoring list with 1,387 points and ninth in career rebounds with 695. The 2015 Mountain West Co-Player of the Year, she ended her Bulldog career as a two-time All-Mountain West and MW All-Tournament Team selection.
During the 2014-15 season, she led the Bulldogs in points (15.9) and rebounds (7.1) while averaging 32 minutes per game. Her 525 points were the seventh-most in a single season at Fresno State, while her 82.9 shooting percentage from the free throw line was the sixth-best mark in a season in school history. In 33 appearances, she posted 29 double-figure games and registered 10 double-doubles.
