Stloukalova unblemished through day one at ITA Northwest Regionals

Freshmen Katerina Stloukalova and Juliane Triebe each advanced to the Round of 32 at the ITA Northwest Regionals with a pair of singles wins on Friday.
STANFORD, Calif. – Through day one at the ITA Northwest Regionals, Fresno State claimed two spots in the Round of 32 as freshmen Katerina Stloukalova and Juliane Triebe each won their first two matches of the tournament on Friday at Taube Family Tennis Stadium.

Earlier in the day, Stloukalova teamed with sophomore Emma Wilson as the two were the only Bulldog doubles team to advance in the main draw. Stloukalova and Wilson defeated Stanford's pair of Emma Higuchi and Naomie Rosenberg 8-6, while Fresno State's other two teams each dropped 8-7 matches. They will face eighth-seeded Stacey Fung and Tami Grende of Washington in the Round of 32 tomorrow at 9 a.m.

 Stoukalova, who received a No. 9 seed in the singles main draw, cruised to straight set wins in her opening matches against Victoria Matejevic (Washington State) and Stephanie Lin (Cal). After a 6-0, 7-6(6) win in her first round match against UC Davis' Kristina Breisacher, Triebe topped San Francisco's Emily Maxfield in three sets to clinch her spot in the Round of 32. She will face seventh-seeded Caroline Lampl of Stanford tomorrow, while Stloukalova will meet Washington's Kenadi Hance. Both matches are scheduled for 10 a.m.
