Bulldogs set for Senior Night on Thursday against SJSU

The Fresno State women’s soccer team kicks off at 7 p.m. PT on Thursday; all home matches include free admission and parking in the Red Lot
FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State women's soccer team is set for its final match of the season as the Bulldogs host in-state rival San Jose State on Senior Night this Thursday at 7 p.m. PT at the Fresno State Soccer and Lacrosse Field.

All Fresno State home games include free admission and parking in the Red Lot. The match will also air live and for free on the Mountain West Network (video) and on 1600 AM ESPN Deportes (Spanish-language radio).

The 'Dogs (9-8-1, 4-5-1 MW) have faced the Spartans (10-4-4, 7-2-1 MW) more times than any other team throughout the program's 22-year history. Fresno State leads the all-time series 15-8-2, including 5-3-1 at home. San Jose State, however, has shut out the 'Dogs in their last two meetings.

Fresno State is currently in seventh place in the MW standings and the Spartans sit in second. San Jose State will be fighting for the top seed in the Conference, while the 'Dogs can finish tied for sixth place with a win and a Wyoming loss, but have been mathematically eliminated from the 2016 MW Championship.

The defending MW Champions will finish the season as a top-three seed in the 2016 MW Championship regardless of this weekend's results. San Jose State currently sits in second place, one point behind leader UNLV and one point ahead of third-place San Diego State.

The Spartans come to Fresno State on a four-game winning streak and have lost only one game in their last seven. Over its last four games, San Jose State has outscored its opponents 13-4. This season, the Spartans have lost by shutout only once.

Among MW members this year, SJSU ranks second in points (98), goals (32) and assists (34), while defensively it ranks best in goals allowed (15) and goals-against average (0.78). Only four of the Spartans' 32 goals were unassisted.

Senior midfielder Alexis Venegas (7 goals, 4 assists) and junior forward Dorthe Hoppius (6 goals, 5 assists) lead the Spartan offense this season, but six players on the roster have scored at least three goals this year. Among MW members, Hoppius ranks first in shots per game (3.41).
