Week 8 rundown of how former Fresno State football players did across the NFL….
FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State football team had 11 former Bulldogs on active 53-man rosters last Sunday during week eight of the NFL season, here is how they fared in their matchups:
WR Davante Adams (Green Bay Packers): 12 REC, 74 YDS; Long 22
Following up NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors from week seven when he had the second-most receptions in a single game in Green Bay Packers franchise history (13 rec., 132 yds. 2 TDS), Adams backed that up with 12 receptions in week eight at Atlanta (L, 33-32). Adams posted 15 receptions through the first six weeks of the season and has 25 in the last two games. He has 424 yards and five touchdowns for the season on top of his 40 receptions. The Packers are 4-3 and positioned second in the NFC North.
WR Isaiah Burse (San Diego Chargers): No Stats
Did not record stats … Burse was promoted to the active roster for the Denver Broncos game and was released by the team on Monday. The Chargers claimed ex-Jets receiver Jeremy Butler off waivers in his place. Sunday's game marked Burses's second stint on the 53-man squad this season as he spent the first two weeks on the active roster. He caught six passes for 72 yards and a TD during the preseason.
QB Derek Carr (Oakland Raiders): 40-of-59, 513 YDS, 4 TD, 0 INT
Carr passed for an Oakland Raiders franchise record 513 yards in its 30-24 overtime win last time out over Tampa Bay. Carr is the third player in NFL history with 500 yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions in a game, joining Ben Roethlisberger (2014) and Y.A. Tittle (1962) and is the third quarterback since 1991, age 25-or-under, to begin the season 5-0 on the road. Carr's seven game-winning drives in the fourth quarter/overtime since 2015 is tied for the NFL lead. The Raiders are 6-2 and tied for the lead in the AFC West with the Denver Broncos – the two teams square off next week. In eight starts, Carr is 214-of-323 for 2,321 yards and has 17 touchdowns against three interceptions.
LB Chris Carter (Indianapolis Colts): No Stats
Once a Baltimore Raven (released Oct. 12) and now a member of the Indianapolis Colts (signed Oct. 13), Carter was held without a stat during week eight vs. Kansas City. The Colts are 3-5 and sit third in the AFC South.
DT Tyeler Davison (New Orleans Saints): No stats
Did not record stats … New Orleans defeated the Seattle Seahawks in week eight and improved to 3-4 on the year. They are tied with Tampa Bay for second place in the NFC South.
OT Bryce Harris (Jacksonville Jaguars): No stats
Harris was inactive for the Jaguars' game vs. the Titans. Harris was signed by Jacksonville on Oct. 5. He has been inactive in all three games since being signed.
RB Ryan Mathews (Philadelphia Eagles): 4 RUSH, 10 YDS, 1 TD | 1 REC, 1 YD
Mathews registered his fourth rushing score of the season when he crossed the goal line from the 1-yard line last time out against the Cowboys. He carried the ball four times for 10 yards in the week eight game at Dallas. Philadelphia lost the game in overtime 29-23 and dropped to 4-3 in 2016 – there is a three-way tie for second place in the NFC East behind the 6-1 Cowboys. Mathews has played in seven games and made five starts in 2016. He has recorded 272 yards on 71 carries for the year.
CB Curtis Riley (Tennessee Titans): No Stats
Riley played in his second career game last time out against the Jaguars as a special team's reserve. Riley was activated from the Titans' practice squad prior to their week three game vs. the Raiders. Tennessee defeated Jacksonville 36-22 on Thursday night football and improved to 4-4. The Titans are in second place in the AFC South.
DB Derron Smith (Cincinnati Bengals): No Stats
Did not record stats … the Bengals tied the Washington Redskins 27-27 in a game at Wembley Stadium in London. The Bengals are 3-4-1 and sit in second place in the AFC North.
OL Cody Wichmann (Los Angeles Rams): No Stats
The Rams observed their bye during week eight. Los Angeles is 3-4 and sit in third place in the NFC West.
OL Kenny Wiggins (San Diego Chargers): No Stats
Wiggins was inactive last week vs. the Broncos. San Diego dropped its game at Denver 27-19 and fell to 3-5 this season. The Chargers are in last place in the AFC West.
