Faz Davalos named MW Player of the Week

Junior center averaged 19.5 points, nine rebounds and five blocks in two wins at the LMU Thanksgiving Classic.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Fresno State center Bego Faz Davalos was named Mountain West Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday morning. It is the third weekly honor of the junior's career.

Faz Davalos averaged 19.5 points, nine rebounds, five blocks 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals to lead Fresno State to a 2-0 weekend. Her performances helped the Bulldogs win the LMU Thanksgiving Classic. She was named to the All-Tournament Team and selected Tournament MVP.

Against Belmont, the junior tied her career high in scoring with 24 points in a 62-53 win over the reigning Ohio Valley Conference champions. With 12 rebounds, she earned her 19th career double-double which places her into a tie for the fifth most in program history. The 6-foot-3 center also tacked on seven blocks to help her remain as the top shot blocker in the NCAA (5.0 bpg).

The following day, Faz Davalos scored 15 points on 7-of-8 shooting to go with six rebounds and three blocks in the 63-45 win against UC Irvine. She also dished a season-high four assists.

Faz Davalos and the Bulldogs return to the Save Mart Center on Wednesday as the team plays San Francisco at 7 p.m. PT. The contest will follow the Fresno State men's basketball team which hosts Menlo College at 5 p.m.
