No. 28 'Dogs sweep Cal Poly and Santa Clara

FRESNO, Calif. - Playing a doubleheader at two different locations, the No. 28 Fresno State women's tennis team dispatched both Cal Poly and Santa Clara with identical 7-0 scores on Saturday. Sisters Mayar and Rana Sherif Ahmed both led the Bulldogs with a combined 4-0 record.
"It was a long and terrific day on the courts as we did a great job in defeating two solid teams 7-0," Fresno State head coach Ryan Stotland said. "We used these matches to make ourselves sharper and I am very happy with how we came out in each match and kept our focus throughout the day. Our team enjoys challenges which is what makes them great. We will be ready for the next challenge next week at Stanford."
The 'Dogs opened up the day at Copper River Country Club taking two of three doubles matches against the Mustangs. Fresno State then put its depth on display in singles as all six of its players won their matches in straight sets.
In the afternoon, the Bulldogs took the first two doubles matches to claim the dual match's opening point. The 'Dogs quickly earned the win as four of their six wins in singles play were claimed in straight sets.
Fresno State will head to Stanford, Calif., on Feb. 19 as the team faces the No. 14-ranked Cardinal at 1:30 p.m. It will be the Bulldogs fifth match of the season against team ranked in the top 20.
