Ugne Mazutaityte places 16th in semifinals at EAC

LONDON – Fresno State freshman swimmer Ugne Mazutaityte represented her home country of Lithuania at the European Aquatics Championships on Monday at the iconic London Aquatics Centre.
Mazutaityte advanced to the 200-meter backstroke semifinals after she finished 13th out of 34 swimmers with a time of 2:13.35 in the preliminaries on Monday morning.
"I am happy with how I did, considering all the travel and getting used to swimming indoors again," Mazutaityte said. "I am excited for the rest of my events in London and my national championships next week in Lithuania in my home pool in front of my family and friends."
In the semifinals on Monday afternoon, Mazutaityte swam a 2:13.25, placing 16th overall.
Fresno State swimming and diving head coach Jeanne Fleck took the trip to London with Mazutaityte.
"I am very proud of Ugne and all she has done this year," Fleck said. "I think she will have a great 100 backstroke and a great Lithuanian Nationals!"
