The record breaking 200 medley relay that features Sienna Cheng-Lucey, Mackenzie Miller Lung, Hayley Oke and Jenna Pulkkinen are the fifth fastest relay team (1:38.51) in the nation and first in the Mountain West. 'Dogs 800 free relay with Ryley Clark, Riley Baldwin, Marija Rutkauskaite and Clare Luken are the ninth fastest (7:40.21) in the nation and fourth in the MW.Â
Fresno State has three or more athletes in the top-10 of the Mountain West in three events, the 100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke and 400 IM. Oke leads the team with four top-10 individual events while Kalmar and Pulkkinen tie with three events and five others tie with two events.
Ryley Clark, Miller Lung and Kalmar hold the fastest time in the conference in their respective events of the 200 backstroke, 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke.Â
Record Breakers
Fresno State broke three records in the first conference dual meet of the season against Fresno Pacific and Cal State East Bay. Aliz Kalmar grabs the Aquatics Center record in the 200 breaststroke from Jenna Pulkkinen, who broke the record on senior day last season. Kalmar's time was not only good for a pool record but an NCAA standard.Â
Cheng-Lucey, Oke, Miller Lung and Pulkkinen broke an Aquatics Center and program record in the 200 medley relay. The relay team takes down a seven-year old that was previously held by Cal, a relay that featured U.S. Olympian Abby Weitzel. Prior to last season Cal had owned all five Aquatics Center relay records.Â
Taking on the Wolf PackÂ
Fresno State won their first dual meet against Nevada at home in 2023 with a fifty-point win. Bulldogs hold one win at the Fresno State Aquatics Center over the last nine meetings. Last season the 'Dogs were handed a 78 point loss in Reno, but got the edge back to place above them at conference championships.Â
Head coach Jeanne Fleck looks to grab her second dual win over Nevada in her career.Â
NCAA OutlookÂ
Fresno State now has four Bulldogs that have marked an NCAA time standard. Pulkkinen and Kalmar join diver Natalia Bedolla and swimmer Miller Lung as NCAA markers. Pulkkinen hit the standard in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 59.84 and Kalmar in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:10.01. Each of the four Bulldogs have only earned a qualifying time in one event - the breastroke events.Â
The NCAA has new regulations beginning in the 2025-26 season. In previous years, there were two qualifying standards - automatic and provisional. This season swimmers can only earn an 'automatic' time if the standard is met in a conference championship final, all other times met throughout the season will be considered provisional standards.Â
