Wilson places second at UNLV Fall Invite

LAS VEGAS – Fresno State concluded its first tournament of the 2016 fall season, as sophomore Emma Wilson earned the Bulldogs highest finish, placing second in the No. 3 singles draw. Wilson earned a spot in the final with a win on Saturday over No. 83 Rianna Valdes of USC, but she fell on Sunday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex to the Trojan's teammate, No. 88 Madison Westby, 7-6, 6-4.

Wilson also earned a third-place finish in the No. 2 doubles draw with teammate Juliane Triebe. The two defeated Washington State's Victoria Matejevic and Melisa Ates, 8-7. In the seventh-place matchup, Katerina Stloukalova and Abbey Watanabe topped UNLV's Mercedes Lopez and Cristina Moroi, 8-1.

The Bulldogs will be back on the courts as they travel to Berkeley, Calif., next weekend for the Cal Nike Invitational.
