‘Dogs drop 4-0 result to Rice

Fresno State lost its second match in two days at the ITA Kickoff Weekend hosted by Auburn.
AUBURN, Ala. - In the consolation match in the Auburn bracket of the ITA Kickoff Weekend, Fresno State was unable to break through against Rice, falling 4-0 for the second consecutive day at the Yarbrough Tennis Center.
The Bulldogs lost the doubles point with identical 6-3 defeats on courts one and two. In singles play, the 'Dogs were able to push three matches into a third set, including two against players ranked in the ITA, but Fresno State lost straight-set matches at the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 5 positions to give Rice the dual win.
The Bulldogs (1-2) will open their home schedule on Feb. 4 against Utah. Match time is slated for 11 a.m. PT at Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center.
