‘Dogs fall 70-48 at Wyoming

LARAMIE, Wyo. – Fresno State saw its five-game win streak against Wyoming snapped on Wednesday night as the Bulldogs fell 70-48 at the Arena-Auditorium.
Fresno State kept the game close through the opening six minutes, and trailed by two after Tory Jacobs hit a jumper with 3:38 remaining in the opening quarter. From that point, the Bulldogs' shooting went cold as they made two if their next 17 shots during a 23-4 Cowgirl run. Fresno State forced three turnovers during the final 1:18 to go on a 5-0 spurt to end the half, but still trailed 33-17 at the break.
Trailing by 18 with seven minutes on the clock in the third quarter, Tory Jacobs got going, knocking down three 3's during a 15-7 run to cut its deficit to 10. Jacobs finished the quarter with 13 of her career-high 19 points.
Ten points was as close as the Bulldogs would get the rest of the way as Wyoming's Marta Gomez got loose for a 3-pointer just before the end of the third period. After missing on its first three 3's of the quarter, Wyoming connected on four straight to extend its lead to 63-44 with 7:18 to play.
How It Happened: Fresno State was held to a season-low 17 first-half points as the Bulldogs shot 8-of-29 from the field during the opening 20 minutes as Wyoming built up a 16-point lead at the half.
