'Dogs complete comeback win over Rams, 3-1

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Fresno State women's soccer team grabbed its first Mountain West win of the season, with a 3-1 win over Colorado State. Myra Delgadillo led the 'Dogs Sunday afternoon with one goal, one assist and three points.
Fresno State improves to 6-4-2 (1-2-1 MW) on the season.
Tori Nicolo, Marina Kerrache, Olivia Muhrbeck, Julia Glaser, Alissa Pham, Kaitlin Crooker, Anna Crawford, Sara Jo Ciapponi, Carly Bracken and Angie Weiner led the charge for the Bulldogs, with Nicole Theroux in the box.
FIRST HALF – Fresno State controlled the tempo at the start of the game. Bracken recorded the first shot of the contest in the 7th minute, missing just wide. Pham logged the first corner in the 15th minute, but the defense deflected it out of the box. The 'Dogs took three-straight shots but couldn't find the back of the net.Â
In the 27th minute, Colorado State took a 1-0 lead when Caeley Lordemann scored, Janelle Stone had the assist with a cross to the lower left side. Lordemann attempted to strike again in the 30th minute but the Fresno State defense blocked the shot.
Megain Amick attempted to tie the game taking a shot in the 40' minute, but the shot was blocked.
Time expired with the Rams up 1-0.
In the first 45 minutes, Fresno State lead in shots (5-3) and corners 3-0. Neither goalie recorded a save in the first half.
SECOND HALF— Bracken opened up the second half with a shot in the 48' minute, missing wide. The Rams camee out of halftime energized taking a shot on goal in the 54th minute, Theroux recorded her first save of the contest. Colorado State took back-to-back shots and a quick corner kick in the 61st minute, keeping the ball away from the 'Dogs.
Fresno State tied the match in the 62nd minute when Delgadillo scored her third goal of the season with a shot to the left side, Gomez assisted the goal. Cline took a shot in the 63rd minute, attempting to take the lead for the 'Dogs, but the Rams recorded a team save.
The Colorado State offense tried to regain the lead with a shot on goal in the 71st minute, but Theroux grabbed her second save of the match. The Rams took back-to-back corners following the shot. A Colorado State forward broke away from the Fresno State defense in the 73rd minute leaving Theroux on her heels, but the forward missed the shot just high.
Due to weather the match had a 30-minute delay, which seemed to work in Fresno State's advantage because the 'Dogs came out firing.
Bracken put Fresno State up 2-1 when she scored her first goal of the season in the 78th minute, the goal was assisted by Delgadillo.
The 'Dogs secured their first conference win of the season when Glaser scored her seventh goal of the season in the 79th minute, giving Fresno State a 3-1 lead. The goal was assisted by Cline.Â
Overall, Fresno State owned the advantage in shots (10-9), corner kicks (4-3) and saves (2-1).
WHAT'S NEXT – Fresno State will continue its road trip facing New Mexico on Friday, Oct. 6 and San Diego State on Sunday, Oct. 8.
