FRESNO, Calif. – The Bulldog swimming & diving team competes on back-to-back days this week, facing UC Davis and Cal State East Bay in a double dual in Davis on Friday afternoon before hosting local rival Fresno Pacific at noon Saturday at the Fresno State Aquatics Center.
Admission is free for all home swimming & diving events and fans attending Saturday's meet will have a chance to win one of two pairs of tickets for the Fresno State football game against BYU on Saturday night. Early arriving fans can also pick up signed team posters while supplies last. During the meet the Fresno Pacific men's team will also be in action taking on UC Santa Cruz, with the meets going on concurrently alternating women's and men's races.Â
The 'Dogs completed their first dual of the season last Saturday at Nevada. Ugne Mazutaityte, Manuela Mendolicchio, and Zofia Niemczak all won events against the Wolf Pack as the team competed at elevation for the first time this year.Â
In the team's first home meet of the year the Bulldogs placed fourth in the Chick-Fil-A Invitational, finishing ahead of Mountain West foe San Jose State. Mazutaityte won the 200 Back and took second in the 100 Back in that meet and Serena Sedillo led the team on both diving boards. Sedillo had a NCAA Zone qualifying score on 3-meter at the Chick-Fil-A Invitational and qualified for zones on 1-meter as well scoring 268.13 at Nevada.
The meet at UC Davis on Friday will begin at 4 p.m. The Aggies defeated both Loyola Marymount and San Diego in Los Angeles last Sunday after losing to UCLA, Washington State, and Arkansas last Saturday. UC Davis faced another Mountain West team at home on Oct. 21, losing 155.5-136.5 against San Diego State.
Cal State East Bay, an NCAA Div. II program, has won each of its first three duals of the season and ranks No. 20 in Div. II. Fresno Pacific is No. 13 in the CSCAA Div. II poll and finished ahead of a pair of Div. I foes – BYU and San Jose State – at the Pacific Invite last week in Stockton. The FPU men are also ranked 17th in Div. II. UC Santa Cruz is a Div. III institution.Â
