‘Dogs fall 76-59 at Texas State

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Fresno State dropped its second game in as many days, falling 76-59 at Texas State on Saturday evening. The Bulldogs were outscored by 15 behind the 3-point line as the Bobcats hit 11 3's in the game.
Thirty-two of the Bulldogs' 59 points came from junior Candice White who posted her first 20-point game of the season (20), and freshman Maddi Utti who recorded her first double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. The Bobcats were led by Toshua Leavitt who scored 28 points and hit 6-of-13 from 3.
How It happened
Both teams started out the game cold from the field, with each shooting 3-of-14, the Bulldogs pulled to 14-10 early in the second quarter with a pair of free throws. Sparked by a 3-pointer from Chania Wright, the Bobcats went on a 14-2 run to take a 25-10 advantage with five minutes remaining in the half.
With the clock ticking down in the first half, a layup from Utti was followed by a 3-pointer from Knishka as the 'Dogs hit a quick 7-0 spurt and trailed 48-36 at the break.
Trailing 43-28 early in the third, the Bulldogs went a on a 14-3 run to get within six at 46-40 with 5:45 to play. Utti and White combined for 12 points during the four-minute span. The momentum was quickly stopped as by Leavitt who dropped in her fourth and fifth 3-pointers of the game. The back-to-back 3's ignited a 14-0 stretch. Despite a 3 from Aly Gamez with two seconds left, Fresno State trailed by 17 at the end of the quarter.
