Diving headed to Los Angeles for Trojan Diving Invitational

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State divers return to action this weekend in Los Angeles as one of nine teams competing in the three-day Trojan Diving Invitational hosted by USC at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center.

Host USC as well as Cal Poly, UCLA, San Diego State, UC San Diego, CS Bakersfield, UNLV, and Fresno State will compete on all three boards. Both men's and women's diving will take place, with the women's schedule featuring 3-meter diving on Friday, 1-meter on Saturday, and platform on Sunday. Results will be available at divemeets.com.

All three Bulldog divers – Kelli Funk, Irina Nikolaeva, and Serena Sedillo – will compete in all three events. The trio shined in two dual meets last week, with the group taking the top three spots on both 3-meter and 1-meter vs. Fresno Pacific and top two on both boards in the double dual vs. UC Davis and Cal State East Bay.

Additionally, the three 'Dog divers each recorded career-best scores on both 1-meter and 3-meter last week. Funk had career-highs on both boards against Fresno Pacific, including an NCAA Zone qualifying mark of 289.50 on 3-meter. Nikolaeva and Sedillo have both posted NCAA Zone qualifying scores on both 1-meter and 3-meter, with Nikolaeva winning 1-meter in both meets last week and Sedillo claiming the 3-meter title in both.

Sedillo's top 3-meter score of 321.45 is the third highest number posted by a Mountain West diver this season. The career-best 290.62 1-meter score recorded by Nikolaeva at UC Davis is fifth best in the conference. On Sunday the Bulldogs will be competing on platform for the first time this year. Â Â Â
