Bulldogs best Hatters 18-9 on the road

DELAND, Fla. – The Fresno State women's lacrosse team defeated Stetson Thursday night. The Bulldogs' explosive offense led them to an 18-9 victory over the Hatters.
Fresno State improves to 2-0 on the season, and 2-0 in the all-time series against Stetson.
"We really fought as a team tonight," said head coach Jessica Giglio. "We had an extremely balanced attack with seven different players scoring for us. Our freshmen really stepped up under the leadership of our upperclassmen."
The Bulldogs were down 2-0 at the beginning of the first half before they went on a 7-0 run to take the lead, the Hatters never recovered.
Caroline Dineen-Carlson, Marina Mayo, Tiffiny Wallace and Kayla Galet each had three goals on the night. Ryleigh Bone, Olivia Mannon and Sarah Bloise tacked on two goals apiece to round out scoring.
Sarah Bloise grabbed a season-high seven draw controls.
"Sarah Bloise was a game changer for us with her draw controls," Giglio said. "Laurel Maunder had a stellar performance in the cage tonight."
Freshman goalkeeper Laurel Maunder played all 60 minutes, she had a career-high 10 saves and improved to 2-0 this season.
Freshman Marina Mayo led the 'Dogs in ground balls with five.
As a team, Fresno State had a 16-11 advantage in ground balls, 14-10 advantage in draw controls and 17-15 advantage in clears.
The Bulldogs had a season-high 34 shots against the Hatters.
"I look forward to continuing this success with our next game against Mercer," Giglio said. "We worked hard all preseason to be 2-0 and we want to continue this winning streak and rise up together as a team."
What's Next
Fresno State travels to Georgia to take on Mercer (1-0) Sunday, Feb. 19 at 2 p.m. PT. The Bulldogs return home Sunday, Feb. 26 to take on MPSF foe Oregon in their conference opener at 1 p.m. PT at the Fresno State Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
