GoBulldogs.com caught up with the senior before her last home competition this Friday
Q: Why did you choose Fresno State?
Hinkle: For its amazing agriculture department and for the team.Â
Q: Who has had the most influence on your athletic career and why?
Hinkle: My family. They have been so supportive and helped me through some really hard situations while I've been on the team. They keep pushing me to do my very best even when I can't see the light at the end of the tunnel and somehow always make me laugh. Â
Q: What pre-meet superstitions or rituals do you have, if any?
Hinkle: I normally go for a run the night before and I listen to a motivational speech. My favorite quote comes from Coach Gary Gaines in the movie Friday Night Lights:
"Well I want you to understand something. To me, being perfect is not about that scoreboard out there. It's not about winning. It's about you and your relationship to yourself and your family and your friends. Being perfect is about being able to look your friends in the eye and know that you didn't let them down, because you told them the truth. And that truth is that you did everything that you could. There wasn't one more thing that you could have done.
Can you live in that moment, as best you can, with clear eyes and love in your heart? With joy in your heart? If you can do that gentlemen, then you're perfect."
It just sets the tone I want on show day, even if I'm not showing.Â
Q: What was your most memorable moment as a Bulldog?
Hinkle: Winning the coaches' "Bulldog Spirit" award and having the team receive the Director of Athletics Community Service award for all of the hard work that the girls did.Â
Q: What is one thing most people don't know about you?Â
Hinkle: Given the opportunity, I would move to Spain or Holland to live in a heartbeat. I absolutely love it there.Â
Q: How would your teammates describe you?
Hinkle: Hard working, loves to eat vegetables, always studying in the library, and definitely spicy.
Q: Who is your favorite athlete and why?
Hinkle: Michael Phelps, because he came from such humble beginnings and is now the most decorated Olympic athlete in the world.Â
Q: If you had a ride-out song, what would it be and why?
Hinkle: Give you Hell by All American Rejects
Q: If you were stranded on a deserted island, what three things would you want?
Hinkle: Duct tape- because you can make or fix anything, a knife- for practical reasons, and a water purification system- can't live without it.
Q: What are your plans after graduation?
Hinkle: Move to the east coast and go to vet school at Lincoln Memorial University in Tennessee.Â
