GoBulldogs.com caught up with the senior before her last home competition this Friday
Q: Why did you choose Fresno State?
Kovanda: I chose Fresno State because of the equestrian team. The opportunity was so unique and it was so close to my hometown of Sacramento.
Q: Who has had the most influence on your athletic career and why?
Kovanda: My fellow teammates and my coaches during the duration of my time on the team have influenced me the most. My former trainer from home, Debbie Stone, heavily influenced my athletic career, as well and provided many opportunities for me.
Q: What pre-meet superstitions or rituals do you have, if any?
Kovanda: I may be the odd one out because I've never had pre-meet superstitions or rituals that I stick to! Even in other sports, I've never been superstitious!
Q: What was your most memorable moment as a Bulldog?
Kovanda: I think the most memorable moment for me was when we beat number 1Â Auburn at Delaware in the fall!
Q: What is one thing most people don't know about you?
Kovanda: I love painting and drawing and plan on pursuing it again after graduation.
Q: How would your teammates describe you?
Kovanda: If I wear normal clothes (instead of breeches or sweats) they like to call me a hipster.
Q: Who is your favorite athlete and why?
Kovanda: Misty Copeland is my favorite athlete because she not only stands for diversity in ballet, but also because she advocates ballet as a sport. My favorite rider is probably Beezie Madden because her riding is effective yet also beautiful and she set a precedent for good equitation in any ring.
Q: If you had a ride-out song, what would it be and why?
Kovanda: The theme of Rohan because I'm a huge Lord of The Rings nerd.
Q: If you were stranded on a deserted island, what three things would you want?
Kovanda: I would want to bring my two cats, Mr. Beaton and Otto, as well as my brother, because he would help me survive.
Kovanda: I'm taking a gap year, then applying to vet schools
