'Dogs fall short against Coastal Carolina 13-8

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State women's lacrosse team fell to Coastal Carolina Wednesday night in the Fresno State Soccer and Lacrosse Stadium.
The Bulldogs fell to the undefeated Chanticleers 13-8.
Freshman Kayla Galet led Fresno State offensively for the second consecutive game. She scored a team-high three goals on four shots.
Marina Mayo, Tiffiny Wallace, Sarah Bloise, Ryleigh Bone and Nicole Ortlieb each recorded one goal to round out scoring for the Bulldogs.
Kyleigh Westgarth logged a game-high five ground balls for the second time this season.
As a team, Fresno State had a 13-10 advantage in draw controls and caused turnovers 13-10.
Laurel Maunder and Natalie Chaffin split time in the cage for the Bulldogs, they combined to record five saves on the night.
Bulldogs struck first, Chanticleers answered back
Tiffiny Wallace found the back of the net less than a minute into the contest to give Fresno State its only lead of the game 1-0.
The Bulldogs and the Chanticleers went back and forth through the first half to make it a two goal game at the half. Coastal Carolina had a 7-5 advantage over Fresno State.
Coastal Carolina had a balanced offense in the first half with five different players scoring.
Fresno State couldn't recover from an early Coastal Carolina run
The Chanticleers opened the second half with a 5-0 run, to put Coastal Carolina up 12-5.
The Bulldogs scored back-to-back goals to end the run but fell short in regaining the lead.
Both teams found the back of the net one last time before time expired, for a final score of 13-8.

Fresno State returns home Sunday, March 12 to host Colgate at 1 p.m. PT in the Fresno State Soccer and Lacrosse Stadium.
