Cardinal tops 'Dogs 17-4

PALO ALTO, Calif. – Fresno State fell to MPSF foe Stanford Tuesday night in Stanford Stadium 17-4.
The Bulldogs fall to 8-6 (1-5 MPSF).
Freshman Tiffiny Wallace had three goals on the night, recording her third consecutive hat trick. Kayla Galet recorded one goal to round out scoring for the Bulldogs.
Tiffiny Wallace has set a new program record for most goals in a single season with 40 goals and counting.
Stanford pulls ahead early
The Cardinal opened up the game with a 10-0 run, holding the Bulldogs scoreless for 22 minutes.
Tiffiny Wallace opened up scoring for the Bulldogs with 6:48 left in the first half, to end Stanford's run.
Stanford ended the first half on a 3-0 run, to put the Cardinal up 13-1 at halftime.
Cardinal offense finishes strong
Tiffiny Wallace struck first for the Bulldogs with 29:26 left in the second half, for her second goal of the game.
Stanford went on a 3-0 run over an 18 minute span to go up 16-2.
Tiffiny Wallace found the back of the net with 7:34 left in the game to complete a hat trick.
Stanford scored one more time with 5:49 left in the game.
Fresno State tacked on the last goal of the game when Kayla Galet scored on a free position shot with 2:43 left in regulation.
In the Cage
Freshman Laurel Maunder started the game for the Bulldogs. She recorded 13 saves during her 35 minutes in the cage.
Junior Natalie Chaffin finished the game in the cage for Fresno State. Chaffin recorded four saves for the Bulldogs.
Other notables
Lindsay Hobson recorded a season-high and team-high four draw controls. Hobson also logged two caused turnovers.
As a team, Fresno State limited Stanford to 13 shots in the second half compared to the 29 shots the Cardinal took in the first half.
The Bulldogs also limited the Cardinal to only three draw controls in the second half.
