FRESNO, Calif. – In the Bulldogs' second home meet in as many weeks, the Fresno State Invitational, the track and field teams combined to win six events and post 16 top-three finishes at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
Sophomore Vanja Spaic continued her run of wins in the javelin as she topped the field with a throw of 47.10 meters in the team's lone win in the throws. Despite it being senior day, the junior throwers showed up as Manpreet Grewal took second in the hammer (51.03m) while Kayla Hopkins placed second in the shot put (14.60m) and third in the discus (52.50m). Kevin Sundberg also claimed second in the men's discus (52.07m).
The sprints group totaled a pair of wins as Tiera Norman started them off with a win in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.43. At the end of the meet, the 4x400-meter relay team of Maja Pogorevc, Nailah Harris-Murillo, Annemarie Schwanz and Jestena Mattson posted time of 3:42.23 to win the event. It ranks as the second-fastest time in the Mountain West this season. From that foursome, Pogorevc also placed third in the 200 meters (24.27) while Harris-Murillo took second in the 400 meters with a new personal record of 54.58.
In the distances, senior Esteban Vega closed out his meets in Fresno by pulling out a win in the 800 meters with a time of 1:51.88.
