Fresno State adds second Australian player to signing class for 2017-18 season.
FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State head women's basketball coach Jaime White announced the signing of Australian Genna Ogier. Â
Â
The 6-foot-1 forward from Melbourne currently plays for semi-pro side Kilsyth Cobras in the South East Australia Basketball League where she averages 3.9 points and 4.7 rebounds. This comes on the heels of a year in which she was part of the Women's National Basketball League's Melbourne Boomers development squad.
Â
Ogier, a member of the 2016 Gems Selection Camp for Australia's junior national team, has competed for the Victorian state team at the past two U-20 Australian junior national championships. In 2016, she averaged 10.6 points, 8.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists during the tournament. This year, Ogier helped the team win gold as she averaged 5.1 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists.
Â
"Genna is a very versatile player and will be able to fit into multiple positions on the floor," White said. "We expect her to come in and give us an immediate boost in scoring and rebounding. She is crafty around the basket and has the speed and strength to be an impact player in our conference right away. We are very excited about Genna joining the Bulldog family."
