FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State softball head coach Linda Garza has announced the addition of junior college transfer Dolly Stevens, a utility from Palmdale, Calif., to the 2018 Bulldog squad. Stevens' 24 home runs for Antelope Valley College in 2017 led the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) and her 68 RBIs ranked second, landing her a spot on the All-State team by the California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association (3CFCA).

Position: Utility
Bat/Throw: R/R
Hometown: Palmdale, Calif.
High School: Highland (2015)
Junior College: Antelope Valley (2016-17)

Â
"Dolly is a great addition to the Bulldog family," Garza said. "She is incredibly athletic and it will be exciting to work with her on a daily basis. She is a true utility player who will challenge for a position in the infield or outfield. Dolly plays with energy, passion and, best of all, leadership."
Â
During her sophomore season as an infielder for the Marauders, she hit .465 with a .583 on-base percentage (7th in CCCAA) and 1.134 slugging percentage (3rd in CCCAA). Of her 59 hits, 36 went for extra bases, including 24 home runs, 11 doubles and a triple. She added 64 runs scored (4th in CCCAA), 22 walks and nine stolen bases, while striking out just 10 times. Antelope Valley College finished its 2017 conference schedule with an 18-0 record and was the runner-up at the CCCAA Southern California Super Regional.
Â
In Stevens' freshman campaign as an infielder in 2016, she hit .430 with a .483 on-base percentage and .681 slugging percentage. She recorded 58 hits, including six home runs, 14 doubles and a triple, and added 32 RBIs and 48 runs scored. Stevens also took 10 free passes, stole seven bases and struck out just seven times.
Â
While a Bulldog at Highland High School, Stevens lettered in softball all four years (2012-15) and earned All-Golden League and team captain honors while a part of the squad. She also lettered in cross country (2014-15), was named team captain and finished ninth in the league. In 2015, Highland High School was the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Division IV runner-up.
Â
Stevens chose Fresno State because of the team's strong values, facilities and softball stadium. She intends to be a kinesiology major with aspirations of becoming a physical therapist. Stevens was also recruited by Cal State Fullerton, Lubbock Christian, San Diego State and USC Upstate.
Â
She joins freshmen Keala Brown (outfielder), Dani East (left-handed pitcher) and Hailee Rios (infielder) as newcomers to the 2018 Bulldogs.
