'Dogs earn 1-1 draw on the road

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – The Fresno State women's soccer team finished its Thursday night match against CSUN in a double-overtime draw 1-1.
Bulldogs become 1-2-1 on the season.
Marina Kerrache, Julia Glaser, Myra Delgadillo, Peyton Cline, Kaitlyn Crooker, Anna Crawford, Sara Jo Ciapponi, Carly Bracken Kayla Calmes and Angie Weiner led the charge for the Bulldogs, with Nicole Theroux in goal.
The Fresno State offense came out on the attack with back-to-back shots from Crawford and Glaser.
Crooker struck first for the Bulldogs, finding the back of the net in the 15th minute with an assist from Delgadillo, giving the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. This marked Crooker's first collegiate goal as a Bulldog.
The Matadors went on to shoot 10 shots in a row, finishing the first half with a 10-3 advantage in shots.
Fresno State took a 1-0 lead into halftime. CSUN owned the advantage in corner kicks 3-1. Nicole Theroux recorded two saves for the Bulldogs, while the Matador goalie recorded one save on the half.
Cline opened up the second half with a shot on goal for the Bulldogs in the 51st minute.
The Matadors put their first dent in the scoreboard when Cynthia Sanchez scored off an assist from Marissa Favela, to tie the match 1-1.
The Bulldogs and Matadors exchanged shots until Ciapponi was whistled for a yellow card and CSUN was awarded a penalty kick. Theroux dove to her right to save the penalty shot, sending the contest into overtime.
Fresno State owned a 4-3 advantage in shots in the second half. CSUN recorded more saves 3-1. Both squads took three corner kicks.
In overtime, Sylvia Trinh attacked first for CSUN missing the goal wide to the right and Kaitlyn Crooker struck back for the Bulldogs also missing wide and to the right. CSUN took one corner kick during overtime. Time expired with the score remaining 1-1.
In double overtime, CSUN recorded two shots. Sydney Gilbert recorded the first shot on goal for either team in over 35 minutes, striking first for the Matadors, but the shot was saved by Theroux. Cynthia Sanchez took the second shot of the period hitting the post, leaving the score 1-1.
After 110 minutes of play, the match ended in a 1-1 draw. This was the first draw for the Bulldogs this season.
Overall, CSUN held an advantage in shots (16-8) and corner kicks (11-4). The teams were equal in shots on goal (5-5) and saves (4-4).
After tonight's match, senior Myra Delgadillo became No. 10 on the Fresno State All-Time Points list with 43 career points.Â
What's next – The Bulldogs return home to host CSU Bakersfield in the Soccer and Lacrosse Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. PT.
