Bulldogs face No. 9 Duke in opening round of ITA Kick-Off Weekend

Week two of the dual season finds Fresno State heading to Durham, North Carolina to compete in the annual ITA Kick-Off Weekend. The Bulldogs will face No. 9 Duke in their opening match on Saturday. Depending on the result, the 'Dogs will play either No. 20 LSU or Washington on Sunday. The winner of the Duke bracket will advance to the 2018 ITA Indoor Championships.

Looking at the matchups:
The Bulldogs head into the weekend after opening the dual season with a 6-1 defeat of Sacramento State. Junior Emma Wilson moved into the No. 1 spot for the 'Dogs, defeating two-time all-Big Sky selection, Ana Loaiza Esquivias, 7-5, 6-7, 1-0 (10-8). 2017 Mountain West Freshman of the Year, Katerina Stloukalova, was the first Bulldog off the court with 6-3, 6-0 win.

The Blue Devils opened dual play with a 7-0 win over Elon with no singles player dropping more than three games. Four of Duke's top five players are ranked in the ITA top 100, headlined by No. 7 Samantha Harris. Harris is also half of the No. 1 doubles team in the country, alongside freshman Kelly Chen. The Blue Devils' No. 2 doubles team is also the second-ranked pair in the country as both teams sit at 11-2 on the year.

LSU opened the season with a 7-0 win over Northwestern State and a 4-0 defeat of Southern. The 20th-ranked Tigers feature four singles players ranked in the ITA's top 75.

Washington enters the weekend 1-1, having topped Hawai'i 5-2 in its opener before falling to No. 8 Texas Tech 4-1. The Huskies feature a pair of ITA-ranked singles players in No. 6 Stacey Fung and No. 115 Vanessa Wong.
Next Up:
Fresno State will remain on the road for its next two matches, traveling to Seattle, Washington Friday, Feb. 2. The Bulldogs will face Washington on Feb. 2, before playing a neutral site match against Denver the following day.
