Bulldogs fall 4-0 at No. 9 Duke in opening match of ITA Kick-Off.

DURHAM, N.C. – In their opening match of the 2018 ITA Kick-Off, Fresno State's top doubles team of Emma Wilson and Georgia Lawson did something only two other doubles teams had done this season, and no other unranked team had done, defeat Duke's No. 1-ranked team of Samantha Harris and Kelly Chen. Wilson and Lawson did so in convincing fashion, upending the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's top doubles team 6-2 at the Sheffield Tennis Center.

The win was the Bulldog duo's first over a ranked opponent in their 18 matches together.

Prior to this weekend, Harris and Chen's only losses of the season had come to ranked opponents, falling to the No. 3-ranked team of Stanford at the Fall ITA Nationals and the No. 21-ranked duo of Texas Tech at the ITA All-American, with both coming in the semifinals of those tournaments.

Despite the victory or Court 1, Fresno State fell on both Court 2 and 3 as Duke claimed the opening point. With four singles players ranking in the Top 100 nationally, the Blue Devils picked up wins at No. 1, No. 5 and No. 6 to win the match 4-0.

With the loss, the Bulldogs will face No. 20 LSU tomorrow at 7 a.m. PT. The Tigers fell 4-3 to Washington on Saturday.
