BOISE, Id. – The Fresno State women's soccer team kept postseason dreams alive by defeating Mountain West leader Boise State 2-1, Friday afternoon. The Bulldogs snapped Boise State's winning streak by handing the Broncos their first home loss and first conference loss of the season. Two second half goals from Fresno State proved to be too much for Boise State to overcome.
"I'm extremely proud of the team for playing with such composure away from home in such a difficult place to play and against the top team," said head coach Brian Zwaschka. "The game had some ups and downs, but the players took on the responsibility to control the match. Our resilience to finish the match with the go ahead goal and take this extremely valuable win is well deserved."
Fresno State improves to 5-9-3 (4-3-2 MW) this season.

Tori Nicolo, Melissa Ellis, Ele Avery, Kayla Calmes, Racine Babb, Megan Amick, Sydni Lunt, Alyssa Nishikawa, Robyn McCarthy and Danielle Pacheco chalked the start for Fresno State, with Nicole Theroux in goal.

The Broncos opened the match with a shot on goal, but Theroux grabbed the save. The 'Dogs took a penalty kick of their own in the 64th minute. Calmes took the penalty kick for the 'Dogs, she scored her second penalty kick of the season to give Fresno State a 2-1 advantage with 26 minutes left in the match.
The defense went into overdrive to keep the Broncos from scoring for the rest of regulation. Boise State had a look to even the score in the 74th minute, but Theroux was there to deflect the shot. The Broncos took one last shot in the 84th minute, but a clutch performance from Theroux locked up the win for the 'Dogs as she grabbed her fifth and final save of the match.
