No. 10 Fresno State falls to No. 2 Texas A&M, 17-3

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The No. 10 Fresno State equestrian team dropped its first competition of the weekend to No. 2 Texas A&M, 17-3. The Bulldogs earned their points in three of the four disciplines on the day.

Freshman Cecily Hayes rode for an impressive team-high 91 in Equitation on the Flat for the Most Outstanding Player honor in the event.

The morning started with Horsemanship and Equitation Over Fences. The Aggies took the Fences, 4-1. Senior Alexandra Dirickson earned the lone Bulldog point in an 81-80 ride over her opponent. This is Dirickson's third Fences point of the season.

Texas A&M swept the Horsemanship event, 5-0, to take a 9-1 lead into the intermission.

The Bulldogs opened up the second half with a high scoring Equitation on the Flat ride from freshman Cecily Hayes as she outscored her opponent 91-90, enough to receive Most Outstanding Player in her first Flat point of the season. Hayes would score the only point for the 'Dogs in the Flat and the Aggies saw a 4-1 victory.

Fresno State's final point of the day was earned by freshman Lexee Padrick as she picked up a Reining point with a 71-69 ride over her opponent. Padrick's point was the largest margin of victory in the Bulldogs' three points on the day. The freshman is now 2-1-1 in Reining in her debut season. Texas A&M sealed its team victory with a 4-1 win in Reining.

Fresno State returns to action tomorrow morning in Dallas, Texas against No. 3 SMU at 8:00 a.m. PT. Live scoring will be available through the link on the GoBulldogs.com equestrian schedule page and on the team's twitter.
