'Dogs drop close road game to Rebels, 2-1

LAS VEGAS – The Fresno State women's soccer team fell to UNLV 2-1 on the road, Friday night. The Bulldogs' were led by Kayla Calmes, who scored her first collegiate goal in the match.
Fresno State falls to 2-9-2 (1-2-1 MW) on the season.
Calmes, Tori Nicolo, Chloe Chedester, Megan Amick, Alyssa Nishikawa, Ele Avery, Maria Gomez, Robyn McCarthy, Emma Chivers and Danielle Pacheco led the charge for the 'Dogs, with Nicole Theroux in the goal.
FIRST HALF
The 'Dogs and the Rebels were evenly matched through the first 45 minutes, they went into halftime with a tie match 0-0. Both teams notched three shots, while Fresno State logged the only shot on goal for the half. The 'Dogs also took the only two corner kicks of the half.
SECOND HALF
UNLV took control of the match in the 46th minute, Katie Ballou made a penalty kick to put the Rebels up 1-0.
Fresno State fought back in the 54th minute, when Calmes scored a penalty kick of her own to even the score.
The Rebels retook the lead in the 82nd minute when Paige Almendariz scored off a corner kick from Georgia Kingman. UNLV had a 2-1 lead with less than 10 minutes left in the match.
The 'Dogs desperately tried to send the game into overtime with two shots on goal, late in the game. Gomez and Chivers both took shots in the 89th minute, the Rebels' goalie was there to make both saves.
The game clock would expire with UNLV leading 2-1.
