‘Dogs win 13 events in 189-104 dual victory over Pacific

FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State picked up 10 individual swimming event wins, won both diving events, and claimed the 200 Medley Relay en route to a 189-104 dual victory over Pacific on Saturday at the Fresno State Aquatics Center. Pacific was scheduled to host the meet but it was moved to Fresno due to air quality concerns in Stockton.
The Bulldogs improved to 3-1 in duals this season, winning 13 of 16 events for the second consecutive dual meet. Freshman Brenda Diaz Martinez led the 'Dogs with three event wins, claiming first in the 500 and 1000 Free as well as the 200 IM, while Ugne Mazutaityte and Manuela Mendolicchio were both victorious in two individual races. Senior Kelli Funk continued her dominance on the diving boards winning both the 1-meter and 3-meter events.

Freshman Brenda Diaz Martinez led the 'Dogs with three event wins, claiming first in the 500 and 1000 Free as well as the 200 IM, while Ugne Mazutaityte and Manuela Mendolicchio were both victorious in two individual races. Swimming Highlights
- Diaz Martinez won her first individual race in the 1000 Free, touching in 10:19.61 with sophomore Darina Khisiamova taking third. Diaz Martinez went on to win the 200 IM in 2:09.96, just ahead of teammate Lucy Davies, and the freshman made it three wins in three races claiming the 500 Free with a time of 5:03.13.
- Mazutaityte won both backstroke events, taking the 100 Back in 57.55 with Emma Monnich claiming second place. In the 200 Back, Mazutaityte won in 2:02.50 with Emily Cutler in second place, and Ugne was also the top Bulldog finisher in the 200 Free in third place.
- Mendolicchio claimed her first win in the 100 Breast in 1:04.24. She won the 200 Breast race as well, touching at 2:15.89 while Davies placed second in 2:19.63.
- In the butterfly events, Bulldog senior Gabbie Libang picked up another victory, touching in 56.30 to win the 100 Fly with Kimberly Harbert second. In the 200 Fly, Zofia Niemczak tallied the win in 2:04.75 with Libang just behind in second.
- Senior Osianna McReed picked up a victory in the 50 Free in 23.90 with Cutler second. McReed was also the top Bulldog in the 100 Free, placing second with Harbert third.
- The 'Dogs began the meet with a relay win as the team of Cutler, Mendolicchio, Harbert, and McReed won the 200 Medley Relay in 1:45.02.
- Each team had two divers in the 1-meter competition while just one representative of each team competed on 3-meter.
- Funk claimed first on 1-meter with an NCAA Zone qualifying score of 267.68 while teammate Irina Nikolaeva returned from injury for her first competition of the season and placed second scoring 263.25. Both Bulldog divers scored more than 100 points higher than the two Pacific divers.
- Funk and Pacific's Alexis Albanese were the only 3-meter divers and Funk won it easily with an NCAA Zone qualifying score of 282.60 while Albanese scored 155.18.

- Fresno State will take part in the three-day UNLV Invitational Nov. 29-Dec. 1 in Las Vegas.
