Benson inks four commits

FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State water polo adds to its growing program as head coach Natalie Benson inked four student-athletes. The signing class includes one junior transfer, freshman mid-year transfer for the 2019 season and two freshman for the 2019-20 season.
Isabella Sonkoly – (Clovis, Calif./ Clovis HS)
Prep Accolades: 2018-19 Undefeated League Champions … 2018-19 Valley Champions … 2015-16 Valley Champions … Hungarian National Team … Royal Water Polo Club … BVSC Zuglo .. four-year varsity letterwinner at Clovis HS.
Benson's Comments: "Isabella is a local athlete from Clovis High School, and has had tremendous success as a Valley Champion in 2018. She plays with intensity and fire, and has a tremendous motor in the water. Her Valley toughness and respect for the game will help her as she enters our program, and her competitive spirit will have a positive effect on the group as a whole."
Cynthia Rosa – (Montebello, Calif./ Schurr HS)
Prep Accolades: Four-year varsity letterwinner … 2018 All-CIF Division 2 team … 2018 Whittier Daily News First-Team … 2018 CIF-SS Division 2 Champions.
Benson's Comments: "I am very excited about the addition of Cynthia to our roster, as her discipline, work ethic, and intrinsic drive exemplify the values of the Valley. She will add immediate depth with her ability to score, defend, and see the playing field with an experienced eye. I believe that our program is a tremendous fit for her, and she will thrive within our system of play." Â
Daphne Guerremont – (Laval, Quebec, Canada/ College Laval)
Prep Accolades: Two-time U16 National Champion … three-time U19 National Champion … three-time Senior National Champion, Junior Pan American Champion … member of the All-Star team (1x U16, 2x U19).
Benson's Comments: "Daphne joins us from Quebec, Canada, and will begin competing with us in the Spring. Daphne brings some big-game experience and game intelligence to our team, having competed for her National Team at the Youth level. She will add some depth to our roster, and will add on to a group of freshmen who have the ability to make an immediate impact on our team."
Sarah Parson (Arroyo Grande, Calif./ Santa Barbara City College)
Accolades: 2018 WSC Champions … 2017 California Community College Athletic Association Women's Water Polo Champions … 2017 WSC Champions.
Benson's Comments: Sarah will transfer in to our rising junior class, and fit right into that dynamic group. Sarah adds size, experience, shooting skill, and the ability to create in the middle to our team. Her potential to be a strong leader is important to our young team during our formative stages as a program. Her affect and demeanor will fuel a positive vibe, and her championship-level experiences in Junior College will contribute to our preparation for the challenges that competition brings.
