'Dogs to host three matches at Wathen Tennis Center this weekend

Fresno State will face Cal Poly on Saturday, Saint Mary's and Santa Clara in doubleheader on Sunday.

Week four of dual action sees Fresno State return home for three matches this weekend after playing its last four on the road. The three matches during the next two days will be the only matches at home during the month of February for the Bulldogs.

Fresno State is 1-4 on the year after facing three Top 25 opponents during the last weeks. The 'Dogs dropped a pair of matches last week in Seattle, Washington, falling 5-2 to No. 24 Washington and 6-1 to Denver. The Bulldogs' No. 1 doubles team of Georgia Lawson and Emma Wilson rank No. 55 in the ITA's first doubles rankings of the spring, the highest of any Mountain West team. Wilson is also No. 125 in the singles rankings, one of only two players in the conference to be ranked.
Looking at the opponents:
Cal Poly is 2-1 on the year after picking up wins over Nevada and San Francisco after opening the season with a 5-2 loss at LMU. The Bulldogs were 8-2 in singles action and 3-1 in doubles when the two teams faced one another at the Cal Winter Invitational last month.
Saint Mary's enters the weekend at 1-3 having faced a pair of Top 15 teams in its first two weeks of the season. The Gaels will also face No. 1 Stanford on Friday before facing the Bulldogs. The Gael freshman duo of Hind Abdelouahid and Mariia Kozyreva are ranked No. 51 by the ITA. The Bulldogs were 4-1 in singles play and 1-2 in doubles against the Gaels last month at the Cal Winter Invitational.
Santa Clara is 1-2 on the year after splitting a pair of matches last weekend, dropping a 5-2 match at No. 14 Cal and defeating CSUN 4-1 on its home courts.
Next Up:
Fresno State will be off next weekend before heading to Los Angeles on Feb. 23 to face UCLA and USC.
