FRESNO, Calif. – Head coach Jonathan Winder announced an addition to his staff on Thursday as Hardy Wooldridge has joined the program as an assistant coach.
Wooldridge worked alongside Winder over the last two seasons at the University of Washington, helping lead the Huskies to a Pac-12 championship and an Elite Eight appearance.
"Hardy is an extremely talented and skilled teacher of the game," Winder said. "He did a ton of the scouting and teaching and match preparation at Washington, and we were immensely successful in large part because of his diligence and hard work. His ability to teach the game at a really high level is going to be a great thing for our program and the players."
Wooldridge served as a volunteer assistant coach for two seasons at Washington, helping coach the serving, passing, and defensive aspects of the team. He also coordinated video and scouting resources, including Data Project and Volleymetrics, to help create match tactics.
"I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to come here and help build this program," Wooldridge said. "Jonathan and his family are from Fresno and he tells me great things about it, and ever since I walked in everybody at Fresno State has been really welcoming. I think we have a chance to be really good in this conference and do some great things. I think we can have a great season next year and keep building so I'm excited."
While in Washington Wooldridge also served as a lead coach for Sudden Impact Volleyball Club and as a court lead coach at University of Washington volleyball camps. He also has coaching experience in California, having served as the freshman volleyball head coach at Tesoro High School in San Juan Capistrano and as the head coach of the U15 boys team for Balboa Bay Volleyball Club in Newport Beach for 2008 to 2011.
A native of Mission Viejo, Wooldridge began his collegiate career at Thompson Rivers University in British Columbia, Canada before playing oversees for Colombier Volley LNB in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. Wooldridge completed his undergraduate work at the University of Washington, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography in 2016.
