Matches to be played Friday and Saturday.
Fresno State Women's Tennis – Match #13 & #14
Event:Â Fresno State vs. Gonzaga/Dartmouth
Date:Â March 16 & 17, 2018
Time:Â 10 a.m. PT/3 p.m. PT
Â
Schedule:
The Bulldogs return to action this weekend for two neutral site matches. Due to potential rain on Sunday, Fresno State's match with Gonzaga was moved up to Friday morning and will be played in Northridge, California. The 'Dogs will then face Dartmouth in San Diego the following day.
Â
Bulldogs at a glance:
The Bulldogs are 3-9 on the year after dropping their last four matches to nationally ranked opponents, including two which were in the top 10. Seven of the Bulldogs' losses have come to ranked opponents this season as they have faced one of their toughest schedules during head coach Ryan Stotland's tenure at Fresno State. Georgia Lawson and Emma Wilson remained the top-ranked doubles team in the Mountain West as the two sit at No. 27, the highest of their careers.
Looking at the opponents:
Gonzaga sits at 9-4 on the year, but unlike Fresno State, has played just one ranked opponent. Seven Bulldogs have won at least 10 matches this season, while five have at least eight wins in dual matches. Nevada Apollo and Haruna each lead the team in dual matches with nine singles wins. Graciela Rosas and Sophie Whittle have gone 6-2 and are No. 52 in the ITA rankings.
Dartmouth is 6-5 this season. The Big Green and Bulldogs have played two common opponents, with both teams dropping matches to Denver and Duke. Kristina Mathis paces Dartmouth with a team-high 14 wins.
Next Up:
Fresno State will remain on the road as the 'Dogs head Utah. The Bulldogs will face Utah on March 23 at 12:30 p.m. PT and BYU the following day at 11 a.m. PT.
