‘Dogs sign Friberg for 2018-19

Swedish national team member joins Fresno State from Palm Beach State.
FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State head women's basketball coach Jaime White announced the signing of junior college transfer Lydia Friberg for the 2018-19 season on Wednesday morning. The incoming junior has been a member of the Swedish national program, playing for her country's youth teams since 2013.
The 6-foot-2 forward, who grew up in Luela, Sweden, played at Weatherford College (2016-17) and Palm Beach State (2017-18) during her two years of junior college. In her last stop, Friberg averaged 7.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game.
At the international level, Friberg has played in 63 games for the Swedish national team at several levels in its youth program. Most recently, she was a member of the under-20 team at the European Championships last July.
"We are very excited to welcome Lydia to our basketball family," White said. "Lydia has a great deal of skill, speed and versatility inside. She is able to play both post positions and defend at a high level. We believe that she will be able contribute immediately and be a part of our success going forward. Lydia works hard and will represent Bulldog basketball with the pride that our fans our accustomed to seeing."
