'Dogs drop regular season finale to Aggies

DAVIS, Calif. – The Fresno State women's lacrosse team dropped its season finale 23-12 to UC Davis, Saturday night. Marina Mayo led the Bulldogs with a team-high three goals on the night.
Fresno State falls to 9-8 (0-2 MPSF) on the season.
Kayla Galet and Megain Walaitis notched two goals. Tiffiny Wallace, Mackenzie Wallevand, Lauren Kiszely, Hannah Krats and Lauren Gonzales scored one goal apiece to round out scoring for the Bulldogs.
FIRST HALF
Mayo, Krats, Galet, Wallace, Kiszely, Wallevand, Linsay Hobson, Ryleigh Bone, Sarah Bloise Abigail Bergevin and Kennedy Mulvaney chalked the start for the Bulldogs, with Laurel Maunder in the goal.
Fresno State and UC Davis exchanged goals to the start the game until the Aggies went on a 3-0 run with 9:36 in the first half, taking an 8-3 lead.
Walaitis stopped UC Davis' run with a goal assisted by Mayo. Mayo quickly added a goal of her own to make it an 8-5 game.
Fresno State would score another pair of back-to-back goals with 1:51 left in the game to make it a two-goal game, 9-7.
The Aggies responded with a pair of their own goals to end the half. At halftime, UC Davis led 11-7.
SECOND HALF
UC Davis opened up scoring in the second half, but Fresno State responded with a 3-0 run sparked by Galet. Fresno State was within striking distance with 25:57 left in the game, 12-10.
The Aggies had an answer, going on a 3-0 run of their own. May attempted to end the run with a goal, with 20:19 left in the half. UC Davis kept firing, ending the contest on a 6-0 run, locking in the win for the Aggies. The clock would expire with UC Davis leading 23-12.
NOTABLE STATS
UC Davis owned the advantage in shots (36-26), ground balls (16-14) and draw controls (24-13). Both teams recorded eight saves.
On offense, Marina Mayo led the 'Dogs with three goals, one assist, one ground ball and one draw control. On defense, Hannah Krats recorded two caused turnobers, three draw controls and three ground balls. In the goal, Laurel Maunder notched eight saves for the 'Dogs.
