Fresno State takes down Cal, 14-13

BERKELEY, Calif. – The Fresno State women's lacrosse team won an intense 14-13 game against Cal, Friday night. The Bulldogs earned their fourth consecutive win. Marina Mayo led Fresno State to victory with a career-high five goals in the contest.

Fresno State improves to 9-4 this season, tying the program's record for most wins in a single season.

Sarah Bloise chalked a hat trick with three goals. Tiffiny Wallace and Mackenzie Wallevand scored two goals apiece. Ryleigh Bone and Kayla Galet each recorded one goal, to round out scoring for the Bulldogs.

FIRST HALF
Mayo, Bloise, Wallace, Wallevand, Bone, Galet, Hannah Krats, Lindsay Hobson, Angela Saladino, Abigail Bergevin and Kennedy Mulvaney chalked the start for Fresno State, with Laurel Maunder in the goal.

Cal started the game with a 3-0 run over the first nine minutes. Fresno State scored its first goal when Bloise found the back of the net with 21:22 left in the half, to make it a 3-1 game.

Fresno State and Cal exchanged goals back and forth for the remainder of the half, making it a 7-4 game at halftime.

SECOND HALF
The Bulldogs hit the ground running in the second half, going on a 4-0 run. Fresno State took an 8-7 lead over the Bears with 23:36 left in the game.

Cal attempted to stop the run with a goal to tie the game 8-8 with 22:07 left.

Fresno State responded with offensive power, going on another 4-0 run. The Bulldogs owned a 12-8 lead over the bears with 11:29 left to play.

Cal attempted to retake the led going on a 3-0 run over the last eight minutes of the game, but the Fresno State's lead was too much for the Bears to overcome. The clock would expire with the Bulldogs leading 14-13, marking the third win over Cal in program history.
