Fresno State falls to No. 13 Stanford

PALO ALTO, Calif. – The Fresno State women's lacrosse team fell to No. 13 Stanford 18-2, Sunday afternoon. The loss snapped the Bulldogs' four-game winning streak. Sophomore Kayla Galet scored both of Fresno State's goals in the contest.
Fresno State falls to 9-5 on the season.
FIRST HALF
Galet, Hannah Krats, Marina Mayo, Lindsay Hobson, Tiffiny Wallace, Ryleigh Bone, Sarah Bloise, Mackenzie Wallevand, Angela Saladino, Abigail Bergevin and Kennedy Mulvaney chalked the start for the Bulldogs, with Laurel Maunder in the goal.
Stanford opened up scoring in the second minute of the game. Fresno State scored its first goal with 25 minutes left in the half, tying the contest 1-1. Galet scored the goal with an assist from Wallace.
The Cardinal finished the half on a 12-0 run. Stanford led 13-1 going into halftime.
SECOND HALF
Stanford opened up scoring in the second half with a 3-0 run, extending its lead to 16-1 with 26 minutes left in the game.
Galet scored the Bulldogs' final goal on a free position shot with 10:04 left in the game. The score stood 16-2.
The Cardinal would finish the game with back-to-back goals, defeating the Bulldogs 18-2.
NOTABLE STATS
Stanford owned the advantage in shots (47-9), ground balls (31-15) and draw controls (18-4). Fresno State recorded more saves, 17-5. On offense, Kayla Galet led the Bulldogs with two goals, two points and four shots. On defense, Abigail Bergevin notched two ground balls and one draw control. In the goal, Laurel Maunder and Natalie Chaffin combined for a season-high 17 saves.
