STANFORD, Calif. – The Fresno State women's soccer team fell to No. 1 Stanford 4-0 in an exhibition match on Friday night.

The Bulldogs opened up the 2018 season against the reigning national champions in the Cardinal. Newcomer Danielle Pacheco lead the 'Dogs on defense, playing a team-high 90 minutes, and Alex Best recording three saves in the contest.

FIRST HALF
Pacheco, Tori Nicolo, Olivia Muhrbeck, Chloe Chedester, Alyssa Nishikawa, Kayla King, Ele Avery, Kasidee Wiley, Robyn McCarthy, Emma Chivers lead the charge for 'Dogs, with Marie Berwinkel-Kottmann in the goal.

Fresno State held No. 1 Stanford scoreless for 29 minutes, fending off seven shots, before Catarina Macario scored a left footed drive inside the far post, putting the Cardinal up 1-0.

SECOND HALF
The Bulldogs played tough defense holding the Cardinal to one goal until the 55th minute. Stanford would score one more in the in the 69th minute.

Stanford owned the advantage in shots (27-0) and corners (13-0). Fresno State recorded five saves on the contest.
