Fresno State falls to UC Riverside 2-0

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Fresno State suffered a 2-0 loss to UC Riverside, Friday Night.
The Bulldogs fall to 1-2-1 on the season, 1-1 on the road.
FIRST HALF
Fresno State sported a new starting lineup with Tori Nicolo, Megan Amick, Sydni Lunt, Alyssa Nishikawa, Ele Avery, Melissa Ellis, Maria Gomez, Robyn McCarthy, Emma Chivers, Danielle Pacheco and Marie Berwinkel-Kottmann in the goal.
The Highlanders came on strong scoring a goal in the first minute of play, Madeline Feist scored off an assist from Kyra Taylor and Allyssa Troy.
The 'Dogs lone shot in the first half came from Ellis in the 24th minute, the shot was high.
The Highlanders extended their lead to 2-0 when Quinley Quezada scored a goal in the 34th minute, assisted by Maria Gallardo.
At the end of the half, UC Riverside was leading 2-0. The Highlanders owned the advantage in shots, 6-1. Fresno State recorded more saves, 2-0. Both teams recorded one corner kick.
SECOND HALF
Avery kick started Fresno State's offense in the second half with its first shot on goal in the 49th minute, but the shot was saved. The 'Dogs maintained control in the second half, with back-to-back corner kicks in the 59th and 61st minutes.

Fresno State had another opportunity to score in 80th minute when Gomez took a shot on goal. The 'Dogs had one last look in the 88th minute when Avery had a shot on goal in the 88th minute.
The clock expired with UC Riverside leading 2-0.
