'Dogs return home to host Gauchos, Thursday night

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State women's soccer team returns home after back-to-back road games to host UC Santa Barbara in the Soccer and Lacrosse Stadium at 7 p.m. PT on Thursday, for the second home game of the season.
Promotions – The Bulldogs will celebrate "Taco Thursday" against UCSB, the first 50 fans will receive free tacos. Halftime will feature a taco relay race and a t-shirt toss.
Admission and parking to all Fresno State women's soccer matches are free of charge.

SCOUTING THE GAUCHOS
UCSB is 5-1 on the season, 1-1 on the road.
When looking at the first six games, the Gauchos have out-scored their opponents (16-5) and have out-shot their opponents (94-49). UCSB notched three shutouts this season. The Gauchos have a balanced offense with nine Gauchos with goals, eight with assists, 12 with points and 18 with shots. UCSB has logged two Big West Conference Player of the Week honors this season. Forward Shaelan Murison leads the UCSB offense with five goals, two assists, 12 points, 23 shots and has recorded two game winners.
Last week – UCSB had a 1-1 week with a loss to San Francisco and a win over Cal.
The Gauchos suffered their first loss of the season against the Dons, 2-0. San Francisco scored two goals in a five minute span during the first half, proving too much for UCSB to overcome.
UCSB came back from a 2-0 deficit in the second half to defeat Cal in overtime, 3-2.
Last time – Fresno State defeated UCSB in Santa Barbara on Sept. 10, 2017, 2-1. The last time The Bulldogs defeated the Gauchos in Fresno was in 2001.
Fresno State owns the all-time record between the two squads 6-4-1.

Nicole Theroux has recorded two saves, a .286 save percentage and a 2.50 goals against average.
Last week – Fresno State had a 0-2-0 week on the road, with losses to UC Riverside and CSU Fullerton. The Bulldogs fell 2-0 to the Highlanders, after UC Riverside scored two first half goals. The Titans defeated the Bulldogs 3-0 to finish the week.
Overview – The Bulldogs were picked to finish sixth in the 2018 Mountain West preseason coaches' poll. Fresno State returned 11 letterwinners and four starters, including 2015 All-MW Second Team honoree Maria Gomez. Nicole Theroux will also return to the goal for Fresno State. Last season, Theroux started all 20 games as the Bulldogs' goalkeeper, grabbed 70 saves and recorded a 0.83 goals against average. The Bulldogs restocked their roster for the upcoming season with eight newcomers, six freshman and two transfers.
Last season – Fresno State finished with a 10-6-4 (5-4-2 MW) record. The Bulldogs had seven home wins in front of the Red Wave last season, the most since 2007 (7) and six losses for the Bulldogs were the fewest since 2011. Fresno State finished within the top half of the conference which ensured their spot in the 2017 Mountain West Championship Tournament, marking the first championship appearance since 2013, and increased its win total for the fourth consecutive season. Fresno State fell in an exhilarating quarterfinal match of the 2017 Mountain West Women's Soccer Tournament to New Mexico in sudden death penalty kicks. On the season, the Bulldogs outscored their opponents 32-19 and outshot their opponents 230-199.
