FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State women's tennis team opened the spring dual season with a 6-1 win over Stanislaus State at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center on Friday. The 'Dogs were perfect on the day as the only blemish on the scoreboard came from not participating on one court in singles.
"I'm really happy with the way the team competed today," said coach Ric Mortera. "Having five freshmen lead the way in their first ever dual match was great to see. We are looking forward to continuing to learn from this and prepare for our next match."

In doubles, the freshman duo of Ella Husrefovic and Deniza Marcinkevica took down Stanislaus State's Kayla Nguyen and Sylvana Talamantes on court two, 6-1, to start the day. Soon after, the Bulldog tandem of Georgia Lawson and Jennifer Timotin clinched the point with a 6-0 sweep of Cassidy Ferrell and Maria Ochoa on court one.
After the point was decided, another freshman pair of 'Dogs, A.C. Hummel and Jane Ellis, came out on top over Stanislaus State's Taylor Galya and Amlia Gogalija on court three, 6-3.
