FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Fresno State women's soccer team fell to Mountain West foe Colorado State 1-0 on the road at CSU Soccer Field, Friday afternoon.
Fresno State falls to 6-4-2 (2-2-1 MW) on the season.
Colorado State jumped out to an early lead when Gracie Armstrong scored in the 8th minute. Despite outshooting the Rams 5-3 in the second half, the Bulldogs were unable to recover.
Tori Nicolo, Racine Babb, Lorena Montanes, Mariona Segales, Ele Avery, Shantay Tamez, Kasidee Wiley, Robyn McCarthy, Jordan Brown and Danielle Pacheco chalked the start for the Bulldogs with Valentina Vivas in the goal.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rams scored on the first shot of the match to take a 1-0 advantage in the eighth minute.
Colorado State's defense held Fresno State without a shot until the 39th minute, when Montanes fired one high.
After 45 minutes, the Rams owned the advantage in shots 5-1 and corners 4-3. Vivas recorded two saves.
Fresno State and Colorado State exchanged shots to start the second half.
Montanes took the first shot on goal for the Bulldogs in the 69th minute, the Rams' goalie was there to make the save.
The Bulldogs outshot the Rams 5-3 in the second half, but were unable to erase the one-goal deficit.
NOTABLES
Fresno State will travel to face Wyoming on Sunday at 12 p.m. PT. The Bulldogs will return home to host Nevada on Thursday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. PT.
