'Dogs set to host TCU and Texas A&M in home-opening weekend

Quick Look at the 'Dogs
The No. 9 Fresno State equestrian team has a 0-1 record going in to its home opening weekend. The Bulldogs last competed at then-No. 7 South Carolina on Sept. 20. The Bulldogs put up a tough fight on the road, but fell 11-8.

The Bulldogs also competed in Jumping Seat only competitions at Sweet Briar College and the University of Lynchburg on Sept. 21. These contests only count towards the individual events records, but not the overall team record. The 'Dogs won each Jumping Seat matchup on the road and the wins will count towards the 'Dogs when it comes time to rank individual events and nominate players of the month or year.

- Friday's matchup against TCU is Fresno State's first official Big 12 conference matchup.
- Freshman Ana Bertozzi was named the National Collegiate Equestrian Association September Fences Rider of the Month for her efforts in her first collegiate rides. Bertozzi earned three wins and two MOPs in three rides.
- Senior Brooke Nelson is 3-0-0 in the Flat this season and has won eight consecutive points dating back to Mar. 9, 2019.
- The Horsemanship squad won the event against South Carolina, 4-1. Hannah Buijs, Brooklyn Moch, Kameron Thorn and Hannah Way won their points in their first rides of the season.
- Thorn set a new career-high and earned the MOP honor with a Horsemanship score of 76.5 at South Carolina.
- Senior Erica Rosinski rode for a career-high Flat score at South Carolina (73).
Scouting the Horned Frogs (1-0)
- TCU is 1-0 this season after a 17-3 home win over unranked South Dakota State.
- The Horned Frogs opened their season with an exhibition win against Texas Tech, 20-0.
- TCU swept the Flat event in their season-opening weekend for the first time since Feb. 2019.
- One freshman Frog made her collegiate debut, Mady Buchanan in the Reining.
- TCU is a Big 12 opponent and earned a second place finish at the 2019 Big 12 Championships - falling to Oklahoma State.
Last Time
- Fresno State traveled to Fort Worth, Texas on Feb. 2, 2018 and suffered a 15-5 loss.
- The last time the Bulldogs earned a win against TCU was March 6, 2015 at home in a 10-10 tiebreaker.
- The last time Fresno State won by points was Feb. 18, 2012 in a 9-7 home victory.
Scouting the Aggies (0-0)
- Texas A&M opens its season in Fresno this weekend, facing off with Fresno State and TCU at the Student Horse Center.
- The Aggies return 11 riders, including All-Americans Alex Albright (Horsemanship), Ashley Davidson (Horsemanship) and Haley Redifer (Fences).
- The Aggies were 11-6 in the 2018-19 season, ending their season at the semifinals of the NCEA National Team and Event Championships.
- Texas A&M finished second in the SEC after falling to undefeated Auburn in the championship, 11-6.

- Texas A&M owns a 13-0 all-time record over Fresno State.
- Fresno State traveled to College Station and suffered a 17-3 loss on Oct. 26, 2018.
