FRESNO, Calif. – With last year's recruiting class showing signs of a bright future during the first weeks of the 2019-20 season, Fresno State continued to build on its future during the early signing period with the additions of Keely Brown and Daylee Dunn to its 2020 recruiting class.
Brown, a 5-foot-10 guard from Locust Grove, Georgia helped lead Luella High School to a 4A final four appearance. Coached by former Fresno State player LaToya Brown, the guard averaged 17.3 points, 8.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 3.5 steals per game during her junior season with the Lions.
"Throughout the recruiting process Keely has been fun to get to know because she's so far away, we haven't been able to see her as much," White said. "She's a long and athletic, and is a 3-point shooter. She plays on tough high school and club teams so she has some grit to her. I think she'll be able to help us right away."
Dunn is a 5-foot-10 guard from San Ramon, California who plays for Salesian Prep in the Bay Area. She helped her team to a top four-finish in the California Open Division last year, falling to eventual state-runner up, Pinewood. The daughter of former Bulldog football standout and eight-year NFL veteran David Dunn, Daylee is an accomplished dual-sport athlete and is expected to hurdle for Fresno State's track and field team as well.
"Daylee will bring a lot of length and athleticism to our team," White said. "She can shoot the three and be a lockdown defender. She will be able to tag full-court, do everything that we do now. I think she'll fit right in. She has a lot of Bulldog pride with her dad having played football here. We've gotten to know her and her family really well throughout the recruiting process and we're excited about the type of kid she is and the energy that she is going to bring."
Wednesday marks the close of the early signing period for Division I basketball.
