FRESNO, Calif. --- Fresno State senior guard/forward Sam Bittner has been named the first Google Cloud Academic All-American® in program history, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Monday afternoon.
Bittner earned third-team Google Cloud Academic All-American® honors as one of 15 Academic All-Americans® in the nation this season.
Bittner, who is also a three-time Mountain West scholar athlete and three-time Academic All-MW selection, has helped lead Fresno State (22-8, 13-5 Mountain West) to two postseason appearances and the Bulldogs finished third in the conference standings. Fresno State opens the 2019 Air Force Reserve MW Basketball Championships on Thursday night at 8:30 p.m. PT in the quarterfinals on CBS Sports Network and 940 AM ESPN Radio.
This season, Bittner is the only Bulldog to have started in all 30 games and has averaged 6.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.2 steals per game. He leads the team and is tied for 62nd in the nation in 3-point shooting efficiency (44.0 percent, 40-for-91).
