LAS VEGAS – Senior Kelsi Stieler of the Fresno State women's golf team was named to the All-Mountain West Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Community Service Team. One individual was selected as the top honoree from each MW member school.
"Kelsi is an individual of high values, dedicated to her academic work all the while being community conscious," said head Fresno State women's golf coach Emily Loftin. "I have been a witness to Kelsi's generosity in the community and this award is a testament to her desire and willingness to give her time to help those around her. I am so proud of her efforts as this recognition from the Mountain West clearly shows that Kelsi embodies all that it means to be a student-athlete."
For the 14th-consecutive academic year, the members of the MW SAAC challenged each other in a league-wide competition for the awards. For this year's contest, Mountain West institutions counted their total hours of assistance while participating in various service activities throughout their respective communities.
From March 2018 to February 2019, the league's 11 MW institutions combined for 28,292 hours of community service under the challenge's current format. Nevada took the top team honor with a total of 7,102 hours of service.
In conjunction with the team award, the league announced its All-MW SAAC Community Service Team in a continuing effort to recognize the accomplishments of student-athletes outside the field of competition. One student-athlete from each institution was recognized for going above and beyond in helping to promote and participate in community service activities.
